According to current guidance, you should stop Depo-Provera if diagnosed with meningioma. Some GPs still seem to be unaware of this. Check that any alternative contraceptive is safe with meningioma. This link is to the Pfizer guidance issued to healthcare professionals in the UK in October 2024.
Hormone therapy and meningioma
This information leaflet provides information and guidance for patients and general practitioners on the role of hormonal therapy in patients diagnosed with meningioma based on current literature and research. This includes hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Seek legal advice
There are different legal jurisdictions for Scotland, Northern Ireland and then England and Wales. You need a solicitors in your area who are recruiting claimants. These are firms we are aware of, in alphabetical order. Click on the name for links to their websites. Also be aware that there is a time limit on claims so do not delay if you want to be a part of these growing lawsuits.
If you chose to pursue a claim, you may be asked to collate your medical records. Generally this is through a Subject Access Request to your GP surgery and hospital(s).
Report to the Yellow Card Scheme
The Yellow Card Scheme is a safety scheme ran by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). By flagging adverse event, we help MHRA understand the risk of Depo-Provera.

Check with your healthcare professionals if you are still able to drive. Also check the guidance from DVLA (England, Scotland, Wales) and DVA (Northern Ireland).
If you are not able to drive for at least 12 months, you can apply for a Disabled Bus Pass. If you cannot drive for any length of time, you can apply for a Disabled Rail Pass which gives you a third off rail tickets for you and a companion.
Check your insurance policies
Check if you have policies such as critical illness cover or income protection and see if these cover meningioma. If you work, check what support your employer offers.
